This is the true story of my sister Lucy. We always joked about the strange things she did, such as wearing tie-dye everyday. The family believed we would grow old with our Aunt Lucy but she died suddenly. Since then the funny things she did took on a new meaning that we incorporated into our lives. It makes our life richer, more fun, and keeps her memory alive.
I am an Elementary Art teacher in the midwest. I have been teaching for 15 years and have been cartooning for 10. I have always been fond of drawing, painting and pottery. I have been a closet book writer since I was a child. This is my fourth book I have written and illustrated, yet it is the first one I dared to publish.
This book is of my beloved sister Lucy. She passed away seven years ago.
After her death I remembered only her service, how she lay, and the tie dye shirt she wore. So, I wanted to remember her in life. I wrote and drew frantically. Then I put it away.
I was moved by the amount of people lost during the pandemic including my mother. I wanted to share Lucy's story and how I have made peace with her death. So I wrote this children's book.
Many thanks for the help along the way, friends, family and my wife Debbi.
