Description

The essential guide to diagnosis, treatment and management of the various forms of cancer. Cancer is a word filled with foreboding, but this marvellous book by two of our most distinguished oncologists explains its mysteries in lucid, straightforward language that allays fears and puts the disease clearly into perspective. As surgical oncologist Fred Stephens and medical oncologist Richard Fox explain, some 55% of the more serious internal cancers can now be cured with modern, multidisciplinary treatment and early diagnosis. They describe the latest treatments available, including alternative therapies, in addition to explaining what cancer means and how it might be prevented. A diagnosis of cancer is no longer the death sentence it once was and Cancer Explained provides an essential overview of all current information on this fast-moving field. It is an invaluable source of advice for patients, their families and health professionals. It is also a book to bring hope and comfort.
