After reading this book, readers will have the knowledge necessary to decide if alcoholism is a disease or a disorder. We also look into sports and drug use, along with the history of drugs and alcohol and how they came to the United States.
We will be direct and hold nothing back and go right to the truth. Subject that may be disgusting to some, or hard to talk about, still deserve a qualified answer.
This is an updated version of our original Drugs and Alcohol 101 that William and Deborah Shooter published in 2010. We have always been concerned about the affects of drugs and alcohol use by our country's teens and young adults.
Both of us have spent many years in trying to help young and young at heart drivers to improve their attitudes towards driving defensively and not aggressively.
We wanted to write a book showing kids how important they are to society; how their young bodies are growing, especially their brain. Most importantly we wanted to show them how dopamine and the natural feel-good drugs that their bodies produce need to be maintained in a drug-free body. The use of many drugs being used by teens today remove the ability for our bodies to produce those natural drugs leading to addictions and withdrawal from the society that really wants them to survive as meaning full members of their communities. Deborah was the original founder of Academy of Driving in Florida. As a married couple we developed the Leader Program teaching thousands of young adults life-learning skills.
