Everyone can learn new or more effective coping skills and strategies to deal with times of loss, crisis, and disability. Being aware of possible options or of how others fare in coping with difficult situations is better than groping in the dark. It is hoped that the real life experiences and coping skills presented here will help others in dealing with similar issues and challenges.

"The combination of theory with the contemporary, real-life experiences of those who have coped successfully with disabilities makes for compelling reading....I believe it should be required reading for every student of rehabilitation and should be on the shelf of every rehabilitation center's library."-Theodore Fabyan, President & CEO Vocational Guidance Services
"This book is an important contribution to the field of disability and rehabilitation as it relates to students learning in the fields of allied health, including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Work, and other related health professions...It could be a viable text for a class on the topic of disability and adjustment to disability as well as a resource in a library."-Elmer C. Bartels, Commissioner Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission
"This book meets a need in the rehabilitation field. We have spent countless hours of our clinical meeting time discussing coping with disability...We find this book an excellent resource."-Sally S. Boyd, Ed.D., Supervisor of Community Living Services Perkins School for the Blind
