Humans are undeniably creatures of habit. So when sudden, unexpected plot twists pull the metaphorical rug from beneath our feet, it can sometimes feel impossible to regain our footing.
Therapist and podcaster Jana Firestone knows this better than most, after losing her mum suddenly at the age of twenty-one and spending many years providing professional counselling during her clients' darkest days. But in bearing witness to outpourings of grief, loss and pain on a daily basis, Jana also experienced and observed remarkable resilience, transformation and hope.
Sharing her own stories, as well as the hard-won wisdom of people who have been sideswiped by curveballs, Jana applies a warm and practical therapist's lens to learning to survive and eventually thrive during the most challenging days of our lives.
Jana Firestone is a therapist with a degree in psychology and a Master's in counselling, and has spent the last seventeen years working intensively in the grief and trauma space, and with both young people and adults. She is the host of two podcasts - The Curious Life podcast and The Days That Follow- and her first book, Embracing Change, was published in 2022. She lives in Melbourne with her partner and young family.
