IN THE SPIRIT OF HOMEBIRTH collects stories that celebrate the beauty and power of giving birth. Here are women from indigenous communities, of diverse socioeconomic classes and religions, in urban and rural settings. Partners describe the awe of watching a loved one bring new life into the world, children write sweetly about getting a baby brother or sister, and midwives and doulas tell us what it is like to aid women on their journeys.
"Beyond inspiring! The book feels like a real and welcoming communitywe get the stories, but also recipes, ideas, perspectives."Ariel Gore, Editor/Publisher of Hip Mama
"A kaleidoscopic perspective on the experience."Marcia Jarmel, Producer/Director of Born in the USA

This is the kind of book one hopes will keep getting reprinted and updated for as long as it takes for home birthing to be seen as not only possible but as healthy and completely normal. Katie Presley, Bitch Magazine
