In a world that is evolving with such unprecedented pace, how can we ensure our children remain happy and healthy
In There's Still No Such Thing As Naughty, Sunday Times bestselling author and qualified child therapist, Kate Silverton explains that whilst our older children might be more independent and more mature physically, emotionally they need us more than ever. Kate outlines the seven core 'pillars' parents can put in place to provide the strongest foundations for their children's mental health and happiness - sharing easy, evidence-based tips and scripts to support anyone in the position of caring for a child.
Backed by neuroscience and her practical clinical experience, Kate offers compassionate wisdom and an insight into the inner workings of a child's mind from the ages of 5-11. She shows parents how to help their child to better regulate their emotions, cultivate resilience, foster empathy and ultimately, navigate thoughts and feelings with ease. In ditching the label of 'naughty', Kate demonstrates how to provide the best possible emotional foundation for the children in our care.
Kate Silverton is one of the BBC's main national news presenters. She has produced and presented numerous documentaries, including for Panorama and has reported from the frontlines in Iraq and Afghanistan. She has also stepped out beneath the glitter ball as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
Kate's academic roots are in child development, with a BSc in Psychology; she has worked for more than a decade in children's mental health, ultimately retraining as a children's counsellor with the children's mental health charity, Place2Be. She supports charities like the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, The NHS Maudsley Foundation Trust, as well as the NSPCC and their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's Royal Foundation.
