A compendium of stories, memories, and reportage on the age-old practice of breastfeeding. Alternately informative, affecting and unexpectedly erotic, this work from the author of "Chick for a Day" and "Dick for a Day" pays homage to the miracle of the lactating breast - a phenomenon rarely explored outside of educational literature and parenting magazines. Thanks largely to risque advertising and the gravity-defying cleavage sported by our most popular celebs, exposed breasts (real or fake) no longer hold any mystery. But once they shift into milk-bearing mode, breasts suddenly disappear from the public eye. In this book, through a diverse collection of stories, memories, and personal accounts, Giles uncovers the myths, truths, and social and psychological implications of breastfeeding. From the younger mother grappling with the bewildering trappings of maternity wear, to the woman who finds herself curiously aroused by new sensations, to the modern dad who learns the ins and outs of breastfeeding, the portraits in Giles' eye-opening book offer an alternative to rote how-to tutorials and impersonal step-by-step guides.
