Imagine a world where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. never existed. In this universe skin color determines your influence and your children's very survival. In this world Kimberly Solberg, a Valley Girl and recent high school graduate wants happiness with a guy that doesn't care she is interracial and one where the honorable Minister Kublai Khan dreams his people can live without prejudice and domination. Kim goes to Juarez to find her roots and the minister goes to the nation's capital to fight for justice. Their lives intertwine in Los Angeles where they battle the racist murdering white supremacist Pastor Tucker Dalton for the lives of their mixed-race children. Mixed Blessings is contemporary fiction and can be easily considered a genre-busting women's thriller about how race and skin color isn't a key factor building and growing strong relationships.
From Mississippi to Madison Ave Jo Muse was born on a red dirt road in Holly Springs, MS to a son and daughter of cotton farmers. Penniless and with the promise of fair wages by Henry Ford their family moved to Detroit MI when he was two. The family went from welfare to work in the auto business. What Jo learned from his parents was applying oneself through poverty, hard work, failure and misfortune. Upon moving to California he fulfilled his dream of creating the first multicultural ad agency. Muse would go on to be one of the best known and awarded minority ad men in history. Today J.M. has written his first novel about race, riots, religion and relationships. He has long entertained audiences with his take of race relations and being committed to the importance of new possibilities in pursuit of excellence.
