Catharsis is a book of poems which captures a time in the author's life of pain and struggle. She expresses her fears of the unknown sudden changes she faces. You can feel her pain and anguish as she uproots her life as she knows it. It is clear that she grapples with God and faith throughout her journey. She continually questions his presence and looks to him for reassurance that she will make it through this time of darkness. The poems are often raw emotion that touch on deep and dark topics far below the surface. However, there is a theme of hope that runs through even the darkest of poems. Many poems are written in gratitude for those who carried her through and stood by her side. Perhaps there is a message there to run towards someone who is struggling instead of away. It is clear in her words that she does not think she would have made it through without sitting on the shoulders of others. She explicitly looked towards God for answers on how to proceed, begin healing, and forgive; both herself and others. This book touches on themes that could relate to most people's lives and hopes to provide some comfort and inspiration.
Mandy Lowe has been writing poems as a creative avenue since childhood. She decided to turn her cathartic outlet into a published book in hopes of supporting and inspiring others. A few of her poems have been turned into songs. Mandy resides in Michigan with her four beloved children.
