Hope for a VIP is the fictionalized account of the author's life as a visually impaired person. Retinitis Pigmentosa is characterized by night blindness, narrowing peripheral vision and holed in the visual field. At her diagnosis, she was told that hers was a mild case of RP, but that there was no cure, and her eyes would continue to get worse. That did not stop her from doing her own research. After several years she found a treatment option. It wasn't a cure, but she decided that a treatment was better than sitting around waiting to go blind. Even if she had a needle phobia and the treatment was -- acupuncture. The information about the treatment is factual. Everything else is a story based on fact.
