The documentation of this book consists of five medicinal plants. They are Crab Bush, Dodder/Yellow Love, Guava, Maiden Apple and Pomegranate. Each plant will be depicted by the flowers, leaves, fruit and tree where possible. The growth habitat, scientific name, family and medicinal uses will then be provided with a story behind the bush or plant as remembered from our youthful days.Each one of these medicinal plants are grown, harvested and packaged in sachets for sale to interested persons from Arona's Market Place.

Author Bio

ARONA FORBES pursued academic studies after leaving the British Virgin Islands (BVI) High School in 1983. Her academic achievements led to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agronomy, Farm Business Management and Agricultural Economics; a Master of Science in Horticulture and Master of Arts in Project Management and in Business Administration - Human Resources.Over the years, her husband Jeffrey Forbes and she established Forbes Trucking & Agricultural Services and later on Arona's Market Place. These two businesses provide services in the Agricultural Sector. Arona's Market Place recently launched an Annual Agri-Easter Edition Boot Camp; an Agri-Summer Explosion and an Agri-Christmas Experience for children ages 5-16. The adults were not left out because they also experienced an Agri-Enrichment Summer and Christmas Workshop as well.The objectives of these trainings are: MEDICINAL PLANTS WITH A BVI CULTURAL TWIST43- To train individuals in the art of crop production, husbandry and management;- To promote wholeness in the BVI;- To sustain the culture of the BVI heritage;- To bring greenery back to the BVI;- To provide healthier foods choices for our families; and- To reduce the amount of disposable income being spent on imported vegetables and fruits by growing them yourself.Additionally, a primary component of the training is to educate the participants on the benefits of Medicinal Plants in the BVI for future generations.
