Description

Bear Speaks is a marvelous, fantastical teaching tale in the tradition of The Celestine Prophecy. A young professional woman from Los Angeles goes camping in the Montana wilderness to "find herself" and escape the pressures of family and fiance, about whom she's having some doubts. Once in the forest, she discovers that she is anything but alone. As she explores the natural world around her, she encounters the trickster coyote, a wise old spider and an adventurous raven, all of whom have the ability to shapeshift and communicate with her, mind to mind. And soon she finds herself falling in love with a magnificent bear named Ishmel. As she gets to know Ishmel, he transmits to her seven sacred lessons: All your needs will be met. Time is an illusion. Have no fear. Release into love. Create a loving reality. Connect energy lines to heal the world. Vibrate with joy. These lessons are both familiar and new, with the ring of truth from various spiritual traditions. Above all she learns, and teaches us, that the source of your fear can become the guide for your life. Bear Speaks tells an enchanted tale about trusting what life presents us.

In Laura Carpini's beautifully crafted first book, Bear Speaks, we are treated to a multidimensional journey into a shamanic landscape. Wisdom infuses every page. Innocence, its loss and recovery, lead the reader through difficult terrain into redemption. In Bear Speaks, Ms. Carpini has both channeled as well as orchestrated a fable for our times. Every encounter with the wild world is magical. This is a lovely, essential book that belongs among the few possessions every pilgrim carries on the road to selfdiscovery. Gary Lemons, poet, author of Fresh Horses-- "Reviews"

We all seek a light to live by. We might discover a bit of truth in a colorful shell, a bit of wisdom in our backyard. And every so often, there is a book not only worth seeking out, but one that seeks us out. Bear Speaks is such a book. I had tears in my eyes at its conclusion, not because I was sorrowful, but joyful. Who would have guessed that a bear would serve as the unlikely narrator of practical explanations of immortal wisdom I am grateful it has sought me out, to teach me and light my own life. Cyndi Dale, author of The Subtle Body-- "Reviews"
