Breastless Beauty is a book of inspiration and motivation through prose and poetry, coupled with images of the author, JoAnn Callender who is bald and breastless because of her treatments for breast cancer. Her words are comforting, healing and bring hope.
The writings compel the reader to look beyond a most horrific disease and see a wife, lover, mother and Warrior Queen, despite the loss of anatomical showpieces (for her, hair and breasts). A singer, composer, playwright, and voice teacher, JoAnn takes the reader on a journey through her thoughts. Her goal is to bestow armor on the soul of anyone in the midst of the battle against breast cancer.
Within these pages lies the opportunity to embrace the evolution of a survivor's journey, and behold the triumph of the Breastless Beauty.
JoAnn Callender is a soprano, songwriter, producer, teacher, and survivor. She embodies a rich cultural legacy, raised in the Bahamas and performing since age three. In 2014 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and chose to express her pain, joy, fear, gratitude and courage through art.
