Description

Venture deep into the shadowy forests, remote mountain ranges, and isolated wildernesses of the world in this enthralling collection of true tales of Bigfoot encounters.

Revealing a creature that is as mysterious as it is elusive, Bigfoot Sightings: True Encounters tells of encounters, sightings, and reports across cultures and continents, from Native American legends to modern-day sightings in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. You'll learn about the history and the common threads in the thousands of eyewitness reports-powerful footprints, inexplicable noises, and a primal sense of being watched.

Explore the physical evidence-footprints, hair samples, photos, and videos; the circumstantial evidence-nests and tree structures; the anecdotal evidence-numerous witness stories; and the history and potential explanations for the creature-the giants mentioned in ancient texts, the evolution from Neanderthals, extraterrestrial origins, and shapeshifters; and ancient history, mythology, and folklore. Whether called Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Yeti, or something else, you'll encounter a trove of stories and evidence from across America and the world such as:

Accounts of eerie howls echoing across desolate landscapes

The adventures of Sasquatch hunters Rene Dahinden, John Green, Grover Krantz, and Peter Byrne

Widely covered newspaper reports of a giant apelike creature invading homes, killing livestock, and even stalking people

Stories of shy hulking figures lurking in the woods

Examples of Yeti "scalps" venerated in village monasteries in Nepal

The Skunk Ape of Florida and portions of Alabama and Georgia, which is sometimes called a "cousin" of Bigfoot and named for its foul smell

The Ojibway Ragaru that appears in times of danger

Chilling late-night encounters with towering, shadowy figures

Hunters, hikers, and even skeptics recounting moments of awe as they come face-to-face with the legendary beast

Whether you are a seasoned believer or a curious skeptic, this collection will pull you into the mystery of Bigfoot, leaving you to wonder: What is out there in the wild And are you prepared to encounter it yourself
