Reviews

An essential and inspirational guide to surviving and thriving, whatever life throws at you Bear Grylls (adventurer)

Intense, gut-wrenching and heart-warming, Mindful Soldier is a raw and beautifully written essay on the fundamental questions of life, love and sacrifice. Only a soldier of Ash Alexander-Coopers experience could have written so powerful a story. Everyone who suffers and struggles with life should read this book' William H. McRaven, Admiral, U.S. Navy (retired)

A remarkable book - wise, painfully open, honest and very thoughtful Rory Stewart (author, former politician and podcast host)

A veteran warrior is a gordian knot of intense experiences, complicated emotions, and strong attachments. In Mindful Soldier, former soldier Ash Alexander-Cooper exposes and unties and the threads that bound him. A tightly woven tale with valuable insights for everyone Stanley McChrystal, General, U.S. Army (retired)

Raw, unflinching and deeply humane, this is a remarkable book John Sutherland (former police officer and author)

'Hugely inspirational, uplifting and thought-provoking. A crucial life-guide for how to survive, adapt, thrive and overcome' Damien Lewis (author)

Ash and Jess are a winning combination. One tells an amazing and authentic story of men under fire, and its physical and mental antecedents and consequences. The other does the "science bit" but in an easy-to-digest format. Theres also a moving love story as a counterpoint to the bullets and bangs. A tip of the hat to both Professor Sir Simon Wessely FRS, (Regius Chair of Psychiatry, Kings Centre for Military Health Research)
