In the past few years, using the Internet for information and guidance in the area of personal finance has become the obsession of more and more Americans. This guide provides the needed direction to locate the appropriate intelligence to answer questions about current personal financial needs. Covering over 1400 carefully selected Web sites, part 1 includes resources for financing personal goals, such as education and retirement. Other sections of the book offer sites on investment choices and services, managing and protecting assets, personal banking, debt management, estate planning, insurance, and taxation. For each site, the author has included a summary description to highlight the contents, features, and sponsor. Sites were chosen based on ease of navigation, timeliness of information, scope, and level of free access. Indexes are by Web site sponsor and subject.
This book will help reference librarians who are frequently asked for Web sites pertaining, e.g., to the financial aspects of divorce or accurate and up-to-date information about futures trading. It covers such diverse topics as American depository receipts and personal finance for gays and lesbians. A helpful introduction outlines the author's ideas on the different subject areas....a good buy for libraries of all sizes.-Choice
