Dr. Camille Burnett, PhD, MPA, APHN-BC, RN, BSc.N, DSW is an Endowed Professor, Scholar, and Innovative Thought Leader whose work and teachings critically address determinants of health, equity, and structural justice. As an academic nurse, scientist, and researcher, Dr. Burnett examines policies related to vulnerable groups and the impact that contextual and structural influences have in affecting outcomes. She uses her public health nursing expertise to identify structural opportunities for change and amplifies community-based initiatives to create innovative and engaging solutions. Dr. Burnett has extensive professional experience within the US and Canadian health care system, in public health, public health management, research, and as a private consultant with her own consulting company. She has held provincial public health administrator leadership positions in Canada and academic administrator leadership positions in the US. Dr. Burnett has several years of community engagement and service appointments on over 25 local, national, and international boards, and select appointments as a national policy think tank appointee and internationally as only one of 30 International Council of Nursing 2019 Global Nurse Leaders. Dr. Burnett holds several professional affiliations, is the recipient of 21 teaching excellence awards, 4 university-wide teaching awards, has published 17 articles and 3 book chapters, has been highlighted in well over 50 media stories, and participates in numerous speaking engagements and presentations to a variety of audiences worldwide.
