Description

Revised and updated with the latest facts and figures - this highly illustrated history is a visually sumptuous and informative account of how New Zealand has developed into the independent nation recognised by the rest of the world. Respected author and historian Philip Temple presents over 150 historical photographs, paintings and maps to illustrate the country's story. Starting with the huge rift from Gondwana, he traces the arrival of the first Polynesian canoes, the exploration and settlement by Europeans and the modern-day social, economic and political achievements of this remarkable country. In a new compact, modern format, this accessible history is made available again for all New Zealanders - and those who are new to the country - to discover more about our beginnings.
