It tracks the author Rachel Buchanan's discovery of her family's links with Parihaka and her Maori and Pakeha ancestor's roles in the early days of the city that is now Wellington.

Author Bio

Rachel Buchanan BA (Hons), LLB is currently a lecturer in Media Studies at La Trobe University in Melbourne, and previous to that, she worked as a contributor at Melbourne's The Age newspaper. She's a widely published journalist, historian, essay writer and short story writer in both in New Zealand Australia. Rachel grew up in Taranaki and did her PHD on Parihaka. Years later she attended a big art show at City Gallery in Wellington in 2000-2001 on Parihaka and was inspired to write this historical memoir.
