Author Bio

Jean Baptiste Duroselle (Author) Jean-Baptiste Duroselle was born in Paris 1917. In 1938 he entered the Ecole Normale Superieure, from which he graduated first in his class. He went on to teach history at the lycees of Chartres and Versailles, and to hold posts at various European and American universities. From 1964 until his retirement in 1983 he was Professor of Contemporary History at the Sorbonne. He has presided over various commissions responsible for publishing French diplomatic archives and documents, and from 1985 to 1986 was President of the Academie des Sciences Morales et Politiques at the Institut de France. Anthony Teasdale (Introducer) Anthony Teasdale is the Director General of the Directorate-General for Parlimentary Research Services of the European Parliment, he is also a visiting professor at the London School of Economics and has co-authored The Penguin Companion to the European Union. Anthony studied at Balliol and Nuffield at Oxford University and has spent his entire career involved in European politics, working as an advisor.
