This book provides a concise history of the capital city of Vienna in modern times. It includes a comprehensive outlook on the development of the city in social, economic and cultural terms. Egbert Klautke is Senior Lecturer in the Cultural History of Central Europe at University College London, UK. He is the author of The Mind of the Nation: Vlkerpsychologie in Germany, 1851-1955 (2013).
