There is no reason to question the authenticity of the diaries. Their style is the same as that of Goebbels' earlier books and of the scores of articles he wrote for the weekly Das Reich during the war. Though they tell little about the author's personal life, they tell the full story of Germany's transition from almost total victory to total defeat.
