This beautifully illustrated book is a moving pictorial record of the Vietnam War as fought by our Australian soldiers, and experienced by everyday Australians. Over 300 rarely seen photos, historic maps, letters and diary entries put an intensely human face on the Vietnam experience. 'Vietnam' also describes the social history of the time, highlighting prominent personalities during the war, conscription, media coverage (it was the first televised war) and the aftermath. 'Vietnam' is a thoughtful and rich text that not only conveys the horrors and hardships experienced by the Australian soldiers, but also the dignity, bravery, valour and humanity they came to embody.
Richard Pelvin spent several years as the Curator of Official Records at the Australian War Memorial, and is an independent military history researcher.
