Description

Ang Paghanap (The Quest) has a distinct beginning and ending like most books, but the ultimate journey to be described in this book is in the middle - the quest. In fact, the end may never truly end for it seems to change each day, just beyond the author's reach. Ang Paghanap is the story of the search for his uncle, 1st Lt. Carol I. Cahoon, MIA from World War II. Lt. Cahoon's last hours were spent with fellow soldiers and one civilian, both American and Filipino, as a part of the 26th Cavalry's Scout Car Platoon. Fifteen men disappeared that night into the fog of war. This book sets out to solve the mystery of their whereabouts, particularly the two American officers. Even if their remains are eventually found and identified, it becomes clear that literally parts of them will remain elements of Philippine soil forever. This book is written as a tribute to those soldiers and to the Philippine people. It is also a tribute to those selfless individuals you will meet during this quest who dedicate so much of their personal lives to helping individuals like the author locate and resolve gaps in their families' histories.
