Harold W. Chase was a professor of political science at the University of Minnesota and was a winner of the College of Liberal Arts Distinguished Teaching award the first year it was given by the university. He is the co-author or co-editor of several other books, including Kennedy and the Press and The Case for Democratic Capitalism. A brigadier general in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, he served on active duty in the Vietnam and Korean conflicts and in World War II.
