Description

This fully revised third edition of Cognac: The Story of the Worlds Greatest Brandy provides an authoritative account of how the much-loved spirit is produced and matured. Nicholas Faith was the worlds leading authority on Cognac. Here he explores the reasons for the spirits complex character, and reveals its fascinating history. Cognac is an extraordinary and unparalleled collection of insights into the worlds finest brandy. The first edition of this book, published in 1986, won the Veuve Clicquot award in the US and the Deinhard/Wine Magazine award in Britain. In 2005 the second edition was awarded the Andr Simon prize, Britains premier wines and spirits writing prize. The most recent edition includes a fully updated directory of the top producers and their brandies including the authors tasting notes and two new sections on tasting and mixing: a selection of Cognac cocktails and how to make them, and revelations on the associations made between brandy and food. This completely updated edition of Nicholas Faiths classic guide is a thorough and engaging resource the essential companion for every Cognac enthusiast.

Reviews

"A well-written, informative page-turner thats definitely worth the investment." - Jancis Robinson
"This book is the most up to date literature that can be found about cognac; the drink and the region, and certainly makes for a must read for anyone who pays homage to the wonder that is eaux-de-vie." - CognacExpert.com
"If youre looking to understand the world of Cognac this is one book worth investing in." - diffordsguide.com
"A thorough and engaging resource the essential companion for every cognac enthusiast not a mere guide, it is the standard to which we should all aspire." - Brandy Classics
"Faith has a way of writing that is functional yet aesthetic - it reminds me somehow of Leonardo da Vinci's design and invention sketches and it's difficult to read his work without being drawn in. I started this book a little indifferent to Cognac. By the time I was half way through, I was hooked." - Tamlyn Currin, jancisrobinson.com
