Reviews

"It takes a special writer to take a complex and sobering topic like heart disease, explain it in terms that just about anyone can understand, and leave us feeling hopeful and optimistic. Jill Weisenberger has done all that while providing an excellent game plan for living full, healthy lives with diabetes. Having had type-1 for more than 30 years, this is one book I'll be sure to take to heart." -- Gary Scheiner MS, CDE, Owner & Clinical Director, Integrated Diabetes Services LLC "Jill Weisenberger has written an excellent guide to diabetes and heart disease risk. Her ability to clarify complex issues makes this a wonderful resource for the diabetic patient. Both providers and patients should keep this book handy!" -- James A. Underberg, MD, MS, FACPM, FACP , FASH, FNLA "Most people with diabetes will die from heart disease. What most don't realize is that this does not have to happen, as heart disease can, in most cases, be prevented and even reversed with a healthy lifestyle (in combination with prescription medication). Diabetes expert, Jill Weisenberger, MS, RDN, CDE, FAND, has written an excellent and easy-to-read reference book, filled with sound and practical lifestyle advice. The 'Take Action' summaries at the end of each chapter are especially helpful in clarifying the simple steps she advocates. I suggest that you 'take action' today by following the wisdom in this book, which will surely help you to prevent heart disease, our nation's leading cause of death in both men and women." -- Janet Brill, PhD, RDN, FAND, author of Blood Pressure Down "21 Things You Need to Know About Diabetes and Your Heart is a wonderful resource for anyone who has diabetes and wants to make positive lifestyle changes. Jill Weisenberger does a terrific job of translating complex information into useful tips and provides us with helpful strategies on the topic of diabetes and heart health. Whether you have recently been diagnosed with diabetes, or have been living with the disease for years, this book offers the guidance you've been seeking. I will highly recommend it to my patients." -- Susan Weiner, MS, RDN, CDE, CDN, 2015 AADE Diabetes Educator of the Year "A comprehensive, easy to follow guide for anyone that wants to empower themselves with information on how to prevent and manage heart disease and diabetes!" -- Kristin Kirkpatrick, MS, RD
