Description

My Abuelos Mexican Feast, the follow-up cookbook to My Abuelas Table, is an illustrated journey back to Mexico's past, tracing the life of Daniella Germains Abuelo (grandfather) and his love affair with food. Beautifully illustrated throughout with hand drawn watercolour illustrations, this book is both a lovely keepsake and cookbook.

From Street Food to traditional Ranch Food to Mexican Sandwiches are more, the chapters of My Abuelos Mexican Feast are based (chronologically) around the different stages of her Abuelos life. Recipes and brief anecdotes depict what his life consisted of, as a child, selling sweets and pastries on the streets to help support his family and later helping his father in his modest fishing business, to helping his stepmothers bake for the local bread shop. In other chapters, recipes include the seafood dishes he would devour as a fisherman in his late teens, and further on even touching on some Mexican interpretations of American food as he was exposed to the bigger world moving to Mexico City during his university years. Many recipes in My Abuelos Mexican Feast, are original, copied down by Daniellas Abuelo in his early years, while others are inspired by a lifestyle that her mother experienced growing up in Mexico with her father (Daniellas Abuelo).

My Abuelos Mexican Feast is an authentic look at the food of Mexico, going beyond trendy tacos and to the soul of Mexican cooking and family life.
