COMPREHENSIVE: Phoenix Cooks is one of the biggest books in the City Cooks series with 50 participating chefs/restaurants. There is a great food scene in that city there the author has done a fantastic job in rounding up everyone important for this cookbook.
RESPECTED AUTHOR: Christina is a great food journalist and really well-known to the community. She is a key reason why the chefs responded so positively to participating in the project. That bodes well for the sales performance of the book and suggests that this will be one of the better performing cities in this series.
DESTINATION: Phoenix, and Arizona generally, is a major tourist destination for people in the northwest, including Canada, and this will be a great guide book to the food scene in the city. It should do well in tourist oriented shops, in addition to the traditional book trade.
AUTHENTIC: For fans of southwestern cuisine, which is just about everyone, this cookbook is the real deal. But, reflecting the city itself, the book is much more than a tribute to the Mexican and Central American cuisines -- there are great chefs cooking Italian, Indian, Thai, Japanese and other foods. Phoenix is a melting pot of cultures and Phoenix Cooks reflects that diversity.
Its been incredible to see the Phoenix dining scene boom over the past decade and this beautiful cookbook is the perfect showcase of all the incredible chefs thriving here. Michael Mina, Bourbon Steak Scottsdale & MINA Group This beautiful cookbook brings together Phoenixs best chefs for an amazing flavor-print of our city. Bravo! Beau MacMillan, Food Network star and executive chef at Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain
