UNIQUE: While there have been a number of books on Washington Wines (though not for years) this title combines great cuisine from top Seattle chefs specifically aimed at accompanying the great wines on offer from Washington.
IMPORTANT REGION: Washington is the second largest producer of fine wine in the United States, after California. The people of Washington are very proud of their state's offerings and this beautifully designed tribute will be a great addition to the library of every wine and food aficionado in the state.
TOURIST MARKET: Seattle and Washington's wine region are strong tourist destinations, so this book will not just appeal to the locals. It will be out in time to be in the market for the peak of the tourist season in the spring/summer of 2020.
GREAT AUTHOR: Julien Perry is a wonderful writer, one of the best we've had in our cookbooks, so we are thrilled to have her back on this book after the great job she did with Seattle Cooks. Her knowledge of the region is encyclopedic and she is well regarded by the culinary and wine community.
KYLE MACLACHLAN: This famed, Golden Globe winning, multiple Emmy-nominated Yakima, WA actor (Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, Desperate Housewives), will be doing the Foreword. MacLachlan also is a vintner in Washington, owner of the Pursued by Bear winery. ("Exit -- pursued by bear" is one of the few stage directions given by William Shakespeare in a play - from The Winter's Tale.
"Julien perfectly captures the essence of Washington's idiosyncratic-yet-delightful cuisine and culture."--Madeline Puckette, James Beard Award-winning author of Wine Folly "Julien proves an adroit matchmaker, pairing some of Washington's finest wines with dishes from renowned local chefs. Their recipes brandish the indigenous ingredients that are the wines' natural soulmates."-Providence Cicero, award-winning food writer and former Seattle Times restaurant critic "If you want to know who's making great wines in Washington State, and what foods to pair with them, this brilliant book is a great place to start."--Jeb Dunnuck, wine critic "We know two things: Washington State makes internationally acclaimed wine and Seattle is one of the top foodie cities in the country. Julien's cookbook successfully fuses the two in this thoughtfully curated and user-friendly cookbook showcasing the delightful characters of WA wine and the people who make it. "--Kristin Ackerman Bacon, Publisher/CEO of Sip Magazine "Tomes have been written about Washington wine and also about our local food scene. No one has married the two together as well and as fully as Julien Perry has in this beautifully illustrated book."--Sean Sullivan, contributing editor at Wine Enthusiast and founder of The Washington Wine Report
