Love plants Appreciate design Want an expert to guide you as you combine the best of the two The Plant Society Design Handbook packages everything you need to know to incorporate the ethereal magic of plants into a home where a thriving, perfectly situated kauri pine or a striking arrangement of succulents is as important as an investment couch and a standout piece of art.
Plant whisperer Jason Chongue builds from the basics - starting with a comprehensive guide to the plants you should know, what conditions they thrive in, what companions they are most compatible with, how to group them and how to nurture them to live their best (long) life.
Inspired by the approach he takes as a plant consultant working with clients around the world (the most common question he is asked is: How do I make my space nicer with plants), Jason shares multiple garden layouts for indoors and out, as well as detailed blueprints for a vast array of conceivable projects - from bold balcony arrangements to edible clusters to calming bedroom companions. Each of these include a Kit of Parts that means every project feels achievable and zero knowledge is assumed.
Jason thinks about plants in the way he considers paint or building materials and, while he has an eye-watering collection of reference books, none take a design-first approach or focus on how they relate to the architecture, materials and other elements around them. Until now!
After training as an architect and working as an interior designer, Jason Chongue founded The Plant Society in 2016 as a way to merge his love of plants with his day job. His business has flourished alongside his profile, and he is regularly sought to design gardens indoors and out, for private residences and brands. He has design studios and stores in Melbourne and Tokyo. The Plant Society Design Handbook is his third book - following the success of The Plant Society in 2017 and Green in 2019.
