Once there were three books on knot tying, now there is just the one compendium. If you already have these books this is not a new one, but if you dont then this is a cheaper way of getting them and a chance of learning an almost lost craft. One introduction suffices for all and you dont need much to get started, which is always heartening. Some cords, rat-tail or thronging, a few beads with large holes, a cork mat and the sort of general items most crafters already own; this is not a book that encourages the tyro to invest in a lot of superfluous kit. Helpful staged diagrams show you how to progress with each knot as well as staged photographs, giving you the best of both worlds. Each knot is accompanied by a project using it and some beads and findings, so you can make some attractive and unusual jewellery inexpensively. There are a few other books on the market but this is the best one Ive seen for beginners. If you want to take up a new craft that doesnt cost too much but requires some skill then this is a good one to choose.

This 192 page soft back book is a compilation of three previously published books by the author. Throughout the knots are explained in detail with clear, step by step, coloured diagrams which are easy to follow. The book contains more than 40 projects for you to try including necklaces, bracelets, earrings and brooches. Each project is illustrated by an excellent colour photograph of the finished product. At 14.99 this represents very good value for money, and is a significant saving on buying the three books individually. It is suitable for both the beginner and more experienced maker of beaded jewellery incorporating knots.

Author Bio

Suzen Millodot has always loved arts and crafts, and is the author of the very successful books Chinese Knots for Beaded Jewellery and Celtic Knots for Beaded Jewellery. She is an accomplished artist, having taught batik for many years in Canada, Hong Kong and Wales. She first developed a fascination for decorative knots whilst living in Wales and later in Hong Kong. Her jewellery now incorporates knots from all over the world and from all periods of history, and she complements the knots with unusual and exotic beads she has collected on her travels. She and her husband now live in Wales very close to their daughter and grandchildren. She occasionally teaches and continues to make original jewellery and wearable art using knots and macrame.
