Shibori is a resist dyeing technique and there are full instructions on making colour dyes using natural ingredients such as saffron. More than 30 projects are included, each made from plain fabrics, encompassing items for the kitchen, dining room, living room, and bedroom as well as a selection of lifestyle projects that would be perfect to make as gifts. This treasure trove of desirable projects includes an assortment of cushions, covers, bed linen, up-cycled lampshades, table runner, and napkins, to name just a few.
Fiona Fagan has a passion for textiles. She trained as a pattern maker and later as a textile designer, using the harsh rural landscape in which she grew up as an inspiration for her designs; Fiona learned to sew at a young age and quickly developed an awareness of and interest in beautiful fabrics. In her career Fiona has designed bed linen, swimwear, fashion, ceramics, soft furnishings and stationery. Her designs encompass traditional hand-painted and computer- generated designs, and always use natural fabrics. Fiona currently runs Simply This, a small independent textile company which specialises in printing fabrics with interesting design elements and transforming them into items of soft furnishings.
