Cushions are a great way of brightening up a room and giving it your own personal touch. They can be luxuriously decadent or homely and comforting; inject colour and fun into your life, or be soft and seductive. Whatever your style, Debbie Shore has a cushion cover that is perfect for you. In this sumptuous book, there are twenty-six gorgeous designs to choose from, with ideas and inspiration for many more, all with clear, step-by-step photographs and no-fuss, easy-to-follow instructions.
Debbies designs have a fresh, contemporary appeal, and you will be amazed at how easy they are to make. And you dont have to spend a fortune either. You can achieve a designer look at a fraction of the price youd pay in the shops, and with her firm belief in recycling, Debbie has incorporated childrens old clothes, grown-out-of jeans, pretty dress fabric, unused table-cloths or even last years bedding into many of her designs. Be inspired - add your own flair and individuality to the cushion covers you make and, before you know it, you will be designing cushions of your own!

Reviews

Brighten up your home with a whole range of room-transforming pillows and cushions. With no patterns and lots of foolproof ways of doing things you don't need too much sewing knowledge to make some attractive and gift quality soft furnishings. This book is all about having fun while sewing and getting the finished product together as simply and quickly as possible. There are no patterns to resize on your computer or copier, instead measure your cushion bat and follow the instructions. This makes perfect sense as I have realized during my own cushion making forays that there is no such thing as a standard size bat. You will also get plenty of opportunities to use up not only scraps of fabric, trimmings, ribbon and buttons but also old baby clothes, cardigans and more. Discover a very simple way of putting in a zip, how to avoid actually having to do this at all (envelope backs) and a "cheat's way" of making an Oxford cushion cover. There are pleats, felt flowers, ribbon weaving, patchwork and gathered frills to adorn your work and in general a happy, sunny feel about the whole book. It made me want to make cushions and I don't even need any so I can recommend this to anybody who wants to have a go at this type of thing and thinks that it might be too difficult for them.-Myshelf.com Making cushion covers are a great way of revamping your home, and they are a good project for learner sewists to start with. This book features 26 designs of varying complexity and incorporating different techniques such as piping, ruffles, applique, shirring & patchwork. I think this book would be ideal if you wanted to learn/practice new techniques. The introduction section covers equipment, trimmings, different stitches and how to fit a zip. The projects themselves have step by steps instructions with photos for almost every stage too, ideal for people like me who like a visual guide.-sewingdirectory.co.uk Cushions brighten up any room and provide a personal touch.
