Sew (and design) graphic paper-pieced patterns! Learn about every stage of the process with piecing basics, a guide to pattern design, and choose-your-own-adventure design prompts to create your own foundation paper piecing (FPP) patterns. With an annotated overview of the best FPP methods, countless tips, and over thirty paper-pieced quilt blocks plus seven design exercises to put your skills to the test, you'll have the tools you need to thrive when confronted with any paper-piecing challenge.
Foundation Paper Piecing is a technique where intricate designs can be stitched with precision. Patterns are drawn onto paper and each section is numbered in sequence for stitching. Each fabric piece is placed one at a time on the back of the paper and stitched on the drawn lines. This means that the printed paper side is the back of the finished block and therefore the mirror image of the finished block.
The book is divided into three sections, method and technique, design and design exercises. Six full patterns are included from easy, to highly intricate. A comprehensive book.
