Author Bio

Kathreen Ricketson (1971-2013) lived in Canberra, Australia, with her husband, two children, and various chooks and ducks. She spent her days alternating between running chaotically and calmly while mothering, making, and being. She loved fabric, crochet, books, cooking, camping, sewing, drawing, her children, and lots of other things besides.She started blogging in 2004, fresh out of art school with a couple of little kids in tow, before starting Whipup.net in 2006. During 2007 she wrote a regular ecocraft and ecolifestyle column for Treehugger.com, and in 2010 she wrote a semiregular craft column for Australia's Woman's Day magazine. In 2012 she began a regular column for Australian Quilters Companion magazine, and she used to be the designer at Art Monthly Australia magazine. More recently, she had been writing, editing, designing, and publishing an e-magazine for kids.Kathreen is the author of Whip Up Mini Quilts (Chronicle 2010) and Little Bits Quilting Bee (Chronicle 2011) and the editor of the Kids' Crafternoon series of books (Hardie Grant 2011). Kathreen died May 15, 2013. She was fulfilling a dream of traveling the country with her family.
