From strong, simple, graphic outlines to fine, delicate details, the range of marks and colours you can achieve with linocut printing makes it awonderful technique for creating many differentstyles of artwork.
In this beautiful book, the founder of Inky Dog Studio, Jane Spink, shares her working process for creating her stunning prints inspired by the natural world. Journey through initial sketches and inspirational photos, explore different linocut 'doodles' to discover your favourite marks to carve, then ultimately carve the final design onto a block.
Following a fascinating chapter and demo exercise on key linocut techniques, Jane guides you through 10 striking projects, each becoming more challenging as you progress through the book. Inthis way, you build and develop your carving and printing skills at your ownpace, all the while creating remarkable works of art. Learn to carve birds, flowers, leaves and more, and simultaneously see how to make negative images, incorporate different colours and make editions, to name a few.
If you wish to get printing straight away, templates for all the projects are included at the back of the book for you to trace off and transfer onto your chosen block.
This is a gorgeous, highly visual, intuitive how-to book that breaks away from the dry step-by-step guide, and will bea springboard for you to set out on, or advance further along, your own nature-inspired linocut journey.
