A creative guide to making contemporary mosaics inspired by nature This book is a creative guide to creating contemporary mosaics inspired by nature. The focus throughout the book is on mosaics that have a natural, organic feel to them, taking inspiration from patterns and textures in nature and translating them into abstract mosaic art designs. The mosaics are created using a range of materials, but predominantly those that are organic in nature, such as slate and stone. Starting with tools, materials and cutting techniques, discover adhesive and substrates options, and get to know the various materials and how to use them creatively. The book offers a series of exercises and suggestions to allow you to explore your own interests and develop your own designs. These are supported by step-by-step examples, illustrating the various methods and techniques - both traditional and modern - to show how a piece of art develops from start to finish. With worked examples and a spotlight on other artists' work, find inspiration and get started in your own mosaic journey.
