Alyssa Gross is originally from Texas and was living in Dallas when she was first introduced to mahjong.After relocating to Chicago Alyssa began hostingregular meetups at various locations around the city,teaching anyone who showed up.This led to the launch of her business, The MahjongSociety. Mahjong quickly gained popularity inChicago, and Alyssa found herself teaching multipleprivate lessons each week.Since then, The Mahjong Society (TMS) hasexpanded, bringing on additional instructors andoffering private lessons, bi-weekly meetups, parties,and events. They've partnered with local businessesand social groups to not only teach the game butalso to create an active community of players acrossthe city.
