Description

Bridge is a hugely popular pastime enjoyed by millions, and yet whole books have been written about single aspects of the game, and learning the seemingly complex rules and language can be a daunting idea. So this is the essential guide to beginning your journey and getting in on the fun, covering everything you need to know to get started and progress, from bridge basics, etiquette, language and no-trump play to analysing hands and working with trump suits. Bidding basics and further bidding techniques are covered, along with defence and keeping score. Clear bullet points and step-by-step examples with fresh illustration make learning easy, and once you get the hang of it there are some tips for the more advanced. AUTHOR: Andrew Gumperz (author) is a Californian who has played Bridge competitively for thirty years. He recently won his first North American Bridge Championship event in August of 2018. He is a respected bridge writer whose work can be found online at bridgewinners.com and andrew-gumperz.blogspot.com. He lives in Berkeley, California with his wife and two children, three cats and his unenthusiastic, but unruly canine friend Missy. 200 illustrations

Reviews

The book is extremely well-designed, and the excellent graphics are immensely helpful in illustrating the material. Color and typography are deployed effectively throughout the text, with cards always denoted in bold, either black or red.
