'Those of you with a sense of humour, a love of hunting and a liking for yarns about the characters that roam the New Zealand mountains, this book is for you.'Big Al' once again revisits his beloved terrain: yarns of off-road New Zealand. With his characteristic humour and love for the land - and larrikin mates firmly by his side - Al recounts numerous trials and tribulations from recent hunting expeditions, including such things as cooking dinner with a flame thrower, knocking off plenty of pig and deer (and plenty more making a lucky escape), rats in lunchboxes, accidentally blowing up bridges, snow avalanches, a suicidal Canadian goose, and a burial at sea!
Al Lester was born in Nelson, the youngest of four children. Throughout his life, Al has played rugby, golf, softball and indoor basketball at representative level, and enjoyed the thrills of hunting and skydiving. He is the author of three previous hunting titles: Hunting in the Raw (2003), A Bum in the Bush (2004) and A Hard Shot in the Hills (2006). He joined the New Zealand Police at age 25, and was eventually promoted to Detective Sergeant. He Lives in Christchurch.
