Acclaimed artist Susie Frazier has spent the last 20 years designing calm-inducing art and accents for hospitals, hotels, corporations, and homes. Having lived with undiagnosed ADHD and generalized anxiety since childhood, she developed her own methodology, rooted in biophilia, for enhancing spaces in ways that ease the overstimulated brain. Today, current research in wellness architecture has caught up with what Susie has innately known - that decorative decisions made in our built environments have a direct impact on our minds. In Designing For Wellness, she illustrates the ways in which home design and dcor can contribute to both mental and physical health while providing a beautiful space to call our own.
As architects and planners sprint to learn about the new WELL Building Standard for developing healthier public places, Susie offers a glimpse into what's coming in the next generation of interior design. In a clear and simple format, Designing For Wellness delivers a collection of mindful tips that anyone can implement at home in order to nurture their own emotional well-being.
Susie Frazier is an American artist and designer with a sixth sense about the interior elements that soothe the soul and calm the mind. A pioneer in the modern day maker movement and one of Cleveland's original reclamation artists since 1997, her passion is for turning distressed materials into objects of beauty. But her true gift is designing them in a way that embodies a feeling of serenity.
Living most of her life with undiagnosed ADHD and anxiety, she developed a methodology for calming herself through design choices influenced by nature. With over 41 million people in the United States living with these same conditions, she now openly shares how she manages her condition through decorative decisions. Her self-taught principles for fostering wellness, backed by a growing body of scientific research, have found their way into every aspect of her business including her art installations, custom furniture, retail products, television content, and now her first book, Designing For Wellness.
She is 2018 Emmy(R) award-winning producer and on-air personality, earning regional accolades for her locally-aired TV pilot Movers & Makers with Susie Frazier, which featured the process and personalities behind her earth-inspired design projects for interiors. For over two years she has been the brand ambassador to Mont Surfaces, one of America's leading suppliers of natural stone, engineered quartz, and porcelain slabs for the building industry.
Running an all-female company for over twenty years, she has proudly created design solutions for some of the most prominent organizations in the world, including Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Sherwin Williams, Westin Hotels & Resorts, Baker Hostetler, Kimpton Hotels & Resorts, Nordson, Orangetheory Fitness, lululemon, MarshBerry, The NRP Group, Greater Cleveland RTA, Destination Cleveland, and Crain's Cleveland.
