It is an autobiographical account mostly told in oral narrative style by Dave Tilford, a third generation resident of White Pine County, Nevada. The narrative contains stories about his personal journey as an active civic participant, but also provides much to record historical, cultural, and geographical accounts of the region.

It was written mostly for his family and friends, but there is very little history of this remote part of the Great Basin, so anyone with an interest in regional history would find it of interest. It could easily find an audience in visitors to museums and visitor centers in Nevada.

Author Bio

Dave Tilford is a native of Ely, Nevada whose family has been in White Pine County for three generations. Over the course of his life, he has earned a living through real estate, and contributed to numerous civic leadership activities that capture and recognize the rich cultural and geographical history of the region. He has been involved in the establishment of the Nevada Northern Railway Museum, the Great Basin National Park Foundation, and the Great Basin National Heritage Area. He has also been involved with White Pine Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Diversification Council., the White Pine Public Museum, and the White Pine County Adult Education Advisory Committee.
