A story of love over hate.
The Wayside Chapel, in the heart of Sydney's Kings Cross, is a meeting place for people from all walks of life have-nots and haves, homeless and housed, atheists and believers, lost and saved, sick and well. In Wayside Reverend Graham Long tackles profound truths about life, death, friendship, hardship and the redemptive power of love. Acclaimed photographer Gary Heery's striking portraits honour the visitors, volunteers, staff and friends whose paths cross at the Wayside.
Graham Long worked as a social worker before training for the ministry in 1979. He was chaplain to Parramatta Prison and ran a church welfare agency. He has degrees in philosophy from the Catholic Theological Union and the Catholic Institute of Sydney. He has been pastor and CEO of the Wayside Chapel for 10 years and is a regular guest on various ABC radio programs. He is the author of Love Over Hate: Finding Life by the Wayside and Stories by the Wayside.
