Description

This book introduces cat owners to the world of natural medicine for their pet. It gathers information about all-natural healing remedies available for cats. Part I is an overview of holistic veterinary medicine and its treatments that include acupuncture, homeopathy, chiropractic, nutritional supplements, herbal medicine, diet, and massage techniques and how they work to promote good pet health. Part II is an A to Z listing of 40 health problems--ranging from abscesses to yeast infections--with a prescriptive text complete with a description of the ailment, a recommendation of treatment or medication, dosage information, how to administer, where to buy, etc. and when a veterinarian should be consulted. The entries cover all the major physical health problems but the vets also deal with psychological issues that can be treated holistically, such as flower essences to calm a jealous or sensitive pet, vitamin B to treat food allergies, or mixing up a tonic of chlorella (a fresh-water algae available from health food stores) to help ease the aches and pains in a geriatric pet.
