Dr. Jacenta Parker Cox is a companion animal veterinarian with a deep passion for language and culture. Born in Troy, NY, and raised in Middletown, NY, Dr. Parker has always been especially captivated by Spanish and started studying when it was offered in her public school in 8th grade. She graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana, an HBCU in New Orleans, in 2005, before earning her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Parker is supported by her loving husband, Chris, and their three wonderful sons- Carter, Tyson, and Joseph- who keep them busy. The family's pets include Pinocchio, a friendly orange domestic shorthair cat, and Shanti, a lovely Shih Tzu.
In addition to her work as a veterinarian, Dr. Parker is the proud owner of a private veterinary practice in New Jersey and the founder of Vetmedspanish.com. Through Vetmedspanish.com, she offers RACE-approved continuing education courses in veterinary Spanish, as well as document translation services and private lessons for those looking to improve their Spanish skills in a veterinary context.
