Description

"Bentley and the Frequent Fliers" is a charming and endearing tale about a real-life rescue dog named Bentley. Bentley spends a week at school with his new owner, Nurse Deb. She had no one to care for Bentley so she brings him along to school. In the nurse's office he meets the "regulars" or as Nurse Deb calls them "frequent fliers". Each day of the week is then played out in a in whimsical and amusing manner. Initially, Bentley seemed so different and intimidating to the children but he quickly turns that notion around and what ensues inspires the unfolding friendships between Bentley and the children. His antics and the dynamics of the school nurse's office set the stage for a powerful message of fun and acceptance. What seems scary and different can prove to be a positive thing. In the end, Nurse Deb feels she was ultimately rescued by Bentley!

Author Bio

The author, Deb McManus is a nursing professor, and former school and camp nurse, who has spent her career working in pediatrics. Her Ph.D. research focuses on spirituality. Deb believes there is true spirituality in pet ownership. Her love for children, all animals, and especially Bentley, inspired this book. Prior to his rescue, Bentley was found as a neglected stray, but through love and kindness, he went on to have a wonderful life. He was also known to hang out in the school nurse's office whenever the opportunity arose. Bentley brought joy and happiness to all those he encountered. When Deb is not working she enjoys spending time with her three grown children and hanging out with her English Bulldog Bear, and her two Persian cats, Phillipe and Baby.
