He is the author of the definitive biography Jane Goodall: The Woman Who Redefined Man, The Moral Lives of Animals, Giraffe Reflections, Chimpanzee Travels: On and Off the Road in Africa, and Visions of Caliban: On Chimpanzees and People, which he co-authored with Goodall. He serves as a member of the executive board for PEN New England. He lives in Arlington, Massachusetts. Marc Bekoff is a former professor of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder, an ambassador for Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots program, and a member of the Ethics Committee of the Jane Goodall Institute. He and Goodall co-founded the organization Ethologists for the Ethical Treatment of Animals: Citizens for Responsible Animal Behavior Studies in 2000.
