Reviews

Outdoors Notebook A new, handy, pocket sized book, "Fish of Michigan-Field Guide," by Dave Bosanko is available at bookstores. The 174 pages are waterproof, making it useful on the boat as well as in the stream. Excellent photography helps describe fish, so there's no mistake knowing what species you just caught. Fish species are arranged in families - catfish, gar, minnow, perch, salmon, and many more. Included is a Master Angler list for all species including weight, where caught and date. Some topics include how to handle fish, measuring, diseases, anatomy, scientific name, habitat, range, food, and reproduction. A wealth of information for any angler, this will be a handy refer ence now and for years to come. Special writer - Roger Beukema--Roger Beukema"The Oakland Press" (06/17/2007)

Author Bio

Dave Bosanko was born in Kansas and studied engineering before following his love of nature to degrees in biology and chemistry from Emporia State University. He spent thirty years as staff biologist at two of the University of Minnesotas field stations. Though his training was in mammal physiology, Dave worked on a wide range of research projects ranging from fish, bird, and mammal population studies to experiments with biodiversity and prairie restoration. An avid fisherman and naturalist, he has long enjoyed applying the fruits of his extensive field research to patterning fish location and behavior, and observing how these fascinating species interact with one another in the underwater web of life.
